Review: M.A.C Mineralize eye shadow Young Punk

I haven't been a big fan of mineralize eyeshadows, but this shade looked too good to pass up. I grabbed myself this dark beauty and thought I'd share a review and swatches.

Enjoy!

Young Punk is a great eye shadow and one of my few mineralize eyeshadows. It's a great combination of black with fuchsia/pink glitter shining through out the pan and is awesomely dark and glitzy at the same time.

I picked up this awesome mineralize shadow for about $40 and that gets you a pan of 2.2g/0.07oz. As with most mineralize shadows, there is dark and light sections, so you can get a few different combinations or mix it all together. This one looks beautiful and doesn't create a muddy dissappointing colour when mixed.

The great thing about mineralize shadows is you can use them wet directly from the pan and not worry about a hard layer forming where you wet the product. You can use water, eye drops or M.A.C Fix+.

I was worried about this shadow being hard to work with and giving low payoff. A lot of mineralize shadows can have a problem with a lot off fallout throughout the day and also don't apply to the lid the way they look in the pan. This is a new formula from M.A.C and a rerelease of Young Punk, so the formula is softer and smoother giving better payoff than the original. It blends out well and is easy to work with, especially wet, and I don't get fallout while applying it or during the day.

Now for swatches!

I don't really like or use Young punk dry but wet it is awesome! That way you get the most sparkle payoff and the sparkle really is intensified greatly; it's just glorious!

I really love the matte black with the sparkle and it goes fantastically with a smoky eye. The best thing is, as the light hits at different angles the presence of the glitter changes and you get a fantastic effect of added dimension to your eye. The glitter really makes the centre pop out and the edges looking darker and smoky.

Here's a look I have done with this eyeshadow. Original post is here.

Conclusion

This eye shadow is a must have for me! The black, the fuchsia; there's just no question that I'd love this based on the colour. And based on the quality, I love it too. M.A.C really hit the nail on the head with this one. It's easy to use and gives great payoff wet, while letting the sparkle really pop. A definite recommendation to those who like dark shades and glittery flash.
