Egyptian Pharaoh Lip Art ft Sugarpill & Born Pretty Store

Here's this Egyptian Pharaoh inspired lip art. I took elements of the strong contrasting colours of gold and blue seen a lot of ancient Egyptian art and tried to create the striped look of the nemes headdress or head cloth worn by the pharaohs that symbolises their power. I also wanted to incorporate the strong black eyeliner featured in the makeup, so I added the black outline and upturned corners of the mouth. I love how these lips are bright in colour and excitingly shimmery, but still dark and mysterious.

I really love ancient Egyptian imagery and I haven't dipped into that inspiration for a long time. The Bast makeup look that It’sBlackFriday uploaded a couple of weeks ago made me remember awesome look of the ancient Egyptian style and I was enticed to create this lip art.

I used to do tons of asymmetric eye looks with the eye of Ra and other god’s symbols and I'll have to bring that back into my make up entourage, and maybe make an eye tutorial.

Enjoy!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick Review with Swatches

Here are all my Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in a big ol' review & swatch video. I've got all the details and links for each of the shades I bought below.

These are all $18 (US) and they state that all their liquid lipsticks are 100% vegan and cruelty free. They also have an ingredients list on the website if you are interested in all the ins and outs of the product.

They say that their liquid lipstick goes on opaque, dries completely matte and stays on for hours! This product is 100% vegan & cruelty-free! (tips before use: exfoliate then apply to bare lips! avoid food with oil... and no making out, kisses are ok!)

The international shipping was pretty quick and I received my package 11 days after I placed the order. I ordered enough to get free shipping so that was pretty cool too. They send you a confirmation email as usual and also another email when your package ships with tracking details so you can check the status if you desire.

This is not a sponsored video and I bought all of these lipsticks myself.

Darks & DuoChromes Lip Art Tutorial ft Eye Kandy & Inglot

I wanted to play with some duo-chromatic shadows, and I love my Eye Kandy Cotton Candy glitter which is a pink glitter that reflects blue, so I decided to use it in a lip look and give it a dark base to bring out the blue tones.

I went with my standard black lipstick Portland Black Lipstick Company Black lipstick and neatened up the edged with NYX Black Berry lip liner then patted on the Eye Kandy glitter fading it out towards the edge of the lips. I added a cool Inglot AMC lip gloss in #541, that is a blue/violet tone on top.

The glitter lip looks great on it's own before the gloss and even though the gloss adds more brightness to the blue it is problematic for longevity of the lip. If you want a long wearing lip, I would forego the gloss because the formula eats up the lipstick quite a bit.

This is definitely a lip that I would love to wear often cause the darkness and the bright blue caused by the pink glitter is so fun to create!

You can check out the matching Darks & Duochromes eye makeup here.

And if you dig on bright metallic pigments and smooth easy blendable matte shadows check out Sugarpill here.

Darks & DuoChromes Eye Tutorial ft Sugarpill

I wanted to play with some duo-chromatic shadows, so I eyed one of the most enchanting loose shadows from Sugarpill, Lumi and my favourite MAC shadow, Vellum and combined them into a simple yet effective eye look.

I used Urban Decay perversion eye pencil to create a dark base in a smudged eyeliner shape for the Lumi to reflect over and added some Sugarpill Bulletproof in the outer corner and the lower lashline for some darkness.

I created these eyes mainly to go with the matching lip look which will be out soon...

And if you dig on awesome loose pigments and smooth easy blendable matte shadows check out Sugarpill here.

Winter's First Snow Nail Tutorial ft F.U.N Lacquer

I've got a special manicure to show you that may look simple and it is easy to create but has a intriguing twist that is pretty darn fascinating.

For the main shimmery blue colour I used a thermal polish form F.U.N Lacquer called Icy Snow that changes from light blue to bright medium blue. It's quite gorgeous either way and is fun to play with the changing shades. And you get a neat surprise depending on the room temperature and a varying manicure all throughout the day!

The glitter action comes from Winter Wonderland which is an amazing silver holographic glitter. I like to use it over a silver base coat so you can get a full on glitter party but not have to go too thick with the glitter polish if it doesn't cover every nanometer of your nail.

You can find F.U.N aka Fabulously Unique Nail Lacquer polishes on storenvy here and also there are many swatches and behind the scenes shots on Instagram.

Check out the tutorial video below or on YouTube where you can find more makeup, fashion and nail adventures with Michty Maxx!

Enjoy!

Video Tutorial

This is Icy Snow warm! The violet duo chrome is so lovely and comes through when the polish is under warm conditions mainly around the edges of the nail. It adds an adorable sweetness to the paler colour.

And this is Icy Snow cold and the almost royal blue is quite fetching. I'm not normally a blue person, but I really fancy this shade.

I have some awesome macro pictures and footage of Winter Wonderland showing the large hex pieces and smaller square and tiny hex pieces bits in there. You can apply it in a thin layer and get a demure spattering of glitter, or dab it on to get a solid coverage of glorious sparkle!

Night Lights posted on Polishpedia!

I have another manicure to share with you that I created and was published on Polishpedia!

I wanted something simple and fun this weekend with glitter and sparkle, so I grabbed a royal purple polish, Buffy the Violet Slayer from Wet n' Wild, and layered it under a fabulous silver holographic hex glitter from China Glaze called Techno. Man, I've used a lot of this stuff and it's gorgeous, but takes a bit of patience to dab on the glitter instead of whip it on like a normal polish. However, it's totally worth it for the galaxyeque feel to this manicure and the silver next to the purple really makes it stand out.

Click the picture below for the full post on Polishpedia with more photos, product details and macro shots!

Click here for my other posts on Polishpedia.

I will say that Buffy the Violet Slayer drys really dark and turns into more of a blue than a purple after top coat. It could be the Seche Vite or it could be just the formula of this particular Wet n' Wild polish. I was disappointed cause the colour in the bottle and when it first goes on the nail is really pretty. It's really hard to find a purple nail polish that doesn't have too much red in it and is more cool toned but without going totally blue. But I have the same problem with eyeshdaows and lipsticks too. I guess I'm just very particular about my purple shades and am will always be on the never ending search for the perfect purple shades.

Star Trek Movie Makeup

I escorted my friend to the latest Star Trek movie as is tradition and thought I'd create a Sci-fi makeup look using colours that I associate with science fiction.

I went for blues and silvers and used Sugarpill Tiara, Lumi, Mochi and Velocity with some Marshmallow sprinkles from Eye Kandy for a starry alienesque look

I couldn't resist mixing up a custom colour for metallic silver lips too. So I combined OCC Clear with some Tiara loose pigment and a touch of Iced. I love how shiny and metallic it came out and it lasted really well on the lips.

Feel free to click on the images for higher quality and better colour.

If you want the gorgeous metallic silver or duo-chormatic white pigments and vibrant blue shadows I used in this look, check out Sugarpill.com

Spring Fling!

To celebrate the end of spring and beginning of summer, at least in the northern hemisphere, I created this fresh and colourful makeup. I used bright Sugarpill shadows that scream spring to me, like Mochi and Acidberry with Buttercupcake and a peachy Inglot shadow to offset the cool tones.

For the skin, I chose a warm toned matte blush to play off the eyeshadow and kept the skin healthy and glowy with my favourite highlight M.A.C Whisper of Gilt. To finish off I used a fresh lipgloss from Inglot that I love for an enhanced version of my natural lip colour.

For the bright and summery eyeshadows used in this look go to Sugarpill.com!
