My overall thoughts on this line from Revlon is; YUM! I love them all! They are really excellent feeling and balmy (in the lip moisturising sense) with delicious colours. They make the lips shiny and scrumptious looking. There is no weird lipstick or plastic taste, which is fantastic. The Lip butters are completely unscented and unobtrusive while you are wearing them. They contain mango, shea, and coconut butter, however without any smell. (I hate coconut so that would be a major deterrent for me.) Revlon describe them as somewhere between a lipstick and a lip balm, and these ColourBurst lip butters truly live up to this claim in my opinion.

As far as packaging, the colour of the case matches the look of the product which is a delight and the translucent look is very pleasant. It's also great that there is a clear window on the top of the case so you can check out the product directly. Unfortunately, as I have found out, the product colour can be very different to the colour on the lips. It is a very nice touch either way.

Note: Please excuse the state of some of my lip butters as I could not wait to use some of them before taking photographs. Also my Candy Apple had an unfortunate and horrific accident with gravity, resulting in it smooshed on the floor. Let it be known that these products are very sensitive to damage and are very soft. They are also sensitive to heat, so I would not leave them in the sun or in your car. To fix the shape I reformed the stick and then put it in the freezer but it was never the same after the accident.

Now onto some swatches so you can see what these babies look like.....

Arm swatches
The arm swatches were created with five strokes of the lip butter to show the full colour potential. The lip butters can be used lighter or darker depending on your taste.

Lips swatches

And some Lips swatches so you can see what they really look like.
The lip swatches were prepared with three-four passes of the lip butter and then lips pressed together.

Natural lips

Natural lip colour with clear Palmer's Coca Butter Formula Moisturizing Lip Balm a drugstore brand.

Gumdrop 060

Gumdrop 060 is a lilac colour and goes on very lightly, without a lot of colour impact. It is a very sheer colour and just gives a hint of colour change to the lips. It's not too scary or anything like OCC Lip tar in belladonna, but there's a lilac sheen to your pout. It's a nice one and an interesting colour.

Sugar Frosting 005

Sugar Frosting 005 is the faintest colour I have from the range. In the tube it looks like a light pink colour that leans nude and peachy. However, on the lip it is a very, very sheer peachy-pink with a tiny touch of mauve to the shade. It appears almost invisible on the arm swatch and is an extremely subtle colour but shiny on the lips. It is another one that can be worn without noticing the colour much and just used as a lip balm. I expected more colour payoff on the lips, however there is the shimmer that makes it nice. It is good if you want some lip balm with a tiny hint of sparkle.

Cupcake 055

Cupcake 055 is a lovely light pink shade. It is more opaque than Strawberry shortcake and leaves Sugar frosting in the dust for colour coverage. It is a cool toned pink that doesn't need any sparkle to get attention. This one pinks up your pout and shouts! I really like this shade and it is probably my second favourite.

Lollipop 075

Lollipop 075 is a fantastic hot pink colour and goes on nice and opaque. It is the brightest colour out of my collection of lip butters and the photos can't do it justice. You can tone it down by putting less of the product on your lips, but it still retains a nice strong colour. The bright cool toned fuchsia pink really pops in real life and is incredibly eye-catching. I love this colour!

Raspberry pie 010

Raspberry pie 010 is aptly named as it is a very berry shade. In the tube it is a maroon colour and lets you know it is a dark one. And it really is a red toned purpley colour that leans towards deep cool toned pink when on the lips. It is similar to Lollipop but a darker more toned down deep pink with purple tones. Raspberry pie is much more opaque than Berry smoothie and without the sparkle. It is one of the more concentrated colours, with greater coverage than the rest of the range I have. It's a nice surprise to get the darkness and colour you expect from the product in the tube and good to see another strong colour that is not afraid to jump out at you. A great lip butter for a vampy look!

Berry Smoothie 050

Berry Smoothie 050 is a deep pinky-purple colour with a very subtle deep pink glitter. I guess it is a light raspberry shade that looks like a deeper natural lip colour with a slight shimmer that is not very strong. It isn't as pink as is seems in the photo more purple toned. It doesn't have as much colour pay off as you would expect and is a lot lighter with much more sheer coverage than Raspberry pie. Berry smoothie is very nice for a subtle bit of sparkle and colour, which can easily be worn with everyday makeup or no makeup at all.

Sugar plum 085

Sugar plum 085 is another lighter coverage colour. In the tube it looks like a dark purple plumy colour, however that is very deceiving. It's actual colour is similar to Berry smoothie but minutely more purple and no sparkle. On the lips there is almost no difference between the two (see bottom lip swatch). I would have liked this colour to be much darker, more opaque and purple coloured as it looks in the tube. A solution to this problem is pairing Sugar plum with a Revlon Just Bitten lip stain to bring out the dark purple colour of this lip butter. This one is disappointing but I do still like it and it is good for a subtle touch of colour with hydration.

Candy Apple 035

Candy Apple 035 is a nice bright red colour. It is a cool or blue toned red that is just delicious. It can apply with a thin coat and not be too dramatic, or you can pack it on and get a strong vibrant red colour. I would have to say this is my favourite as I am first and foremost a red lip girl at heart. What more can I say except the best red of the collection! Mmmm……Red……

Tutti frutti 015

Tutti frutti 015 a fun bright orange colour that is more daunting in the tube than on your lips. It's not too overbearing or too opaque and applies lightly. The colour of your lips tones down the orange, although when you wipe it off it still looks somewhat fluorescent! I am surprised I like this one and can see it being great for spring look or if you had a really crazy look going to juice it up. I just couldn't resist the vibrancy of this colour and would say everyone should give it a try if they can handle the fun!

Strawberry shortcake 080

Strawberry shortcake 080 is a subtle colour with a warmer toned pink look to it. It is not the warm version of Cupcake I had hoped it would be as the colour isn't as strong as Cupcake, however it's still a very nice colour. It is a million times stronger than Sugar frosting as well. It is quite a subtle light pink colour with the slightest of sparkle throughout it. It's nice and very office friendly, if you are into that sort of thing. It's girly but not too out there and a nice colour.

Peach parfait 025

Peach parfait 025 is another one that is very deceiving. In the tube it looks a brownish colour with gold sparkles, however on the lips it isn't as brown or dark as you would expect. Even when swatched on the skin you can see it is a peachy natural looking colour, which I liked, and the shimmer throughout it is very nice. It is great for a natural lip and I do rather like this one.

Creamsicle 065

Creamsicle 065 is an orangey-peach toned neutral colour that is relatively sheer. It does settle into the lines of your lips quite a bit and concentrates the colour in those crevices, which isn't particularly attractive. Rubbing your lips together does help that. It's fantastic if you want a nude lip that that doesn't completely cover or for a day look, whatever you like. I am not terribly into nude lips, but thought I would give this one a go. Overall it is okay for a subtle nude lip. I have already worn it a few times and it isn't too opaque so doesn't make you look like a zombie.

Left side 085 Sugar plum, Right side 050 Berry smoothie

To show the similarities between Sugar plum and Berry smoothie I put them on side by side. Notice you can barely tell the difference and there's a tiny tone variance with the tiniest purple tinge to Sugar plum over Berry smoothie.

Conclusion
On packaging I would give top marks, as the different coloured cases look really fun and attractive. The texture on the case looks just like the Revlon ColourBurst lipsticks and doesn't make the lip butters look like a crummy or inferior product. I'm sure you can tell I like the packaging as I loved taking photos (and many of them).
The quality also gets high marks as they feel lightweight and unobtrusive on the lips, as well as very hydrating and keeps your lips in good condition. They really give your lips a nice shine too. You can definitely use these for lip balm or some colour and they really are comfortable. They don't need to be warmed up by the body like some other products with cocoa butter, they are very soft and glide on easily.
On price, it depends where you live. In Australia the lip butters retail for $21.95, however in America the price is about $9. Of course, there's always eBay where they go for about $9 including shipping to Australia. I'd go for that route if they aren't available locally.
On quantity or value, I'd have to say there doesn't seem to be a hell of a lot of product in the tube. The lip butters are about 2.5g/0.89oz and a Revlon Colour Stay lipstick is 3.2g/0.11oz per tube. For another comparison a drugstore Palmer's cocoa butter lip balm is 4g. However, the Revlon product is primarily cosmetic and not medicinal.

I've heard that the lip butters will be part of Revlon's normal range from now on. So there's no hurry to grab them, except I got as many as I could straightaway because I couldn't wait. These babies do sell out cause their sooooo good, so I would make haste if you haven't already got some.
