Maleficent inspired Oil Slick Eye Makeup Tutorial ft Sugarpill Cold Chemistry Palette

I was pondering the coming Maleficent movie with Angelina Jolie and excitedly so, because my favourite Disney princess since I was a child, was always Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

I thought I would create a makeup embodying her evil and representative colours from the old movie. So I accessed the dark power of the Sugarpill Cold Chemistry palette with the wicked shades Subterranean and Elemental Chaos. I added the Sugarpill Spark False Lashes for her spiky demeanour with their crystal stones as hard as her heart.

I really liked how the eyeshadows blended together without becoming muddy, which can be a risk with green and purple blended together. And using the Inglot light peach rainbow shadow #111, the shimmery shades blended out into the crease with ease. The Cold Chemistry palette works really well over dark bases and using black lets the reflective shimmer shine through over the darkened base of the shade. I'm really enjoying this dark release from Sugarpill.

And I always think a creamy base is a must for strong eyeshadow looks. I loved using my new Milani "liquid-like" eyeliner pencil in Perfect Purple, and I think I may have actually found my perfect purple pencil! It's more opaque than Urban decay Ransom and the tone is dark with lighter glitter in it than most purple pencils I've tried and I've tried many! Plus it goes on the skin & blends easily and seriously resists rubbing off when it dries and stays on unless you use makeup remover.

I think the overall look came out looking like an oil slick, which is still cool and you could even increase this effect with adding some black in the outer corners or a spot of yellow to the centre of the lid.

Have fun with the tutorial below or view it here on my YouTube channel and the Lip Art tutorial can be found here.
