Review & Swatch: Limited Edition Sugarpill Asteria

Sugarpill released a Limited Edition Chromalust loose pigment recently and I managed to snap it up! This sparkling gem is called Asteria and below I have some arm swatches, an eye look and a little review for your viewing pleasure. It isn't available anymore but I wanted to share the glory anyway.

Feel free to click on the photos below for better quality and more accurate colour.

Enjoy!

The packaging is unlike the usual Sugarpill fare for an even more special edition feel, and it comes with a white, blue and swirly pink colour scheme. The box is sweet as sugar and has the ingredients plus the name of the shadow on the bottom of the box and also states that this shadow is vegan and cruelty free, if you are concerned about those kinda things.

The little pot itself also has special packaging and sports a cute white lid with a silver Sugarpill Logo contrasting with the usual black lid and pink logo. The pot still contains 4g of loose eyeshadow and there is no sifter in the container. I like the lack of sifter but some people prefer the security of knowing they won't spill their entire stash in one foul swoop.

The shadow is a lovely orangey, copper shade with lots of shimmer and sparkle and is very pigmented. It reminds me of a perfect tigress colour and I can't wait to do redo my tiger makeup look with this shade.

They are bright yellow gold sparkles throughout the shimmery orange copper base which really lifts the colour and brings extra light to the pigment. The first thing I thought when I saw this product was "Yummy! Gingerbread in a pot!" The macro shot above really looks like gingerbread before you roll out the pastry and bake it. Mmmm...

This Chromalust can be used dry, over a sticky base, or wet with a mixing medium. The fantastic shimmer looks gorgeous when used over a white base like NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow in Milk and Urban Decay Primer Potion and even looks delicious by itself. My favourite way to wear it is over a gold base that really brings out the gold tones and you could also play up the orange by using a bronze or orange base.

Conclusion

I really love this Sugarpill Limited Edition release and am so happy I managed to buy it. It isn't available anymore, however maybe in the future it may be.

This was definitely a shade I didn't have in my collection and fulfils many desires in the shimmer and copper department. It blends beautifully, is very opaque and works fabulously dry and wet. It combines well with a variety of different colours well, such as a pink like Dollipop for a brighter glimpse, cranberry shades for a vampy fall makeup or dark purples like Poison Plum for a striking complementary look!

I recommend any and all of the Sugarpill pigments and I have almost their entire range.

I believe Asteria means  "of the stars" or "starry one", if that definition is what Shinkle and the gang intended, and this pigment certainly has the shimmer and glow of the stars!
