Oil Slick Maleficent Inspired Lip Art Tutorial ft. Sugarpill & Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

For this lip art I was inspired by my favourite Disney princess, Maleficent. I drew from her dark heart the colours black and purple and from her evil visage, green then a touch of yellow to represent her devious eyes.

Check out the video below or on my YouTube channel and find the tutorial for the eye makeup here!

If you are in need of pigmented awesome mattes or hot, hot neon pigments, check out Sugarpill here, along with many other gorgeous shadows & lashes!

Enjoy!

Maleficent inspired Oil Slick Eye Makeup Tutorial ft Sugarpill Cold Chemistry Palette

I was pondering the coming Maleficent movie with Angelina Jolie and excitedly so, because my favourite Disney princess since I was a child, was always Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

I thought I would create a makeup embodying her evil and representative colours from the old movie. So I accessed the dark power of the Sugarpill Cold Chemistry palette with the wicked shades Subterranean and Elemental Chaos. I added the Sugarpill Spark False Lashes for her spiky demeanour with their crystal stones as hard as her heart.

I really liked how the eyeshadows blended together without becoming muddy, which can be a risk with green and purple blended together. And using the Inglot light peach rainbow shadow #111, the shimmery shades blended out into the crease with ease. The Cold Chemistry palette works really well over dark bases and using black lets the reflective shimmer shine through over the darkened base of the shade. I'm really enjoying this dark release from Sugarpill.

And I always think a creamy base is a must for strong eyeshadow looks. I loved using my new Milani "liquid-like" eyeliner pencil in Perfect Purple, and I think I may have actually found my perfect purple pencil! It's more opaque than Urban decay Ransom and the tone is dark with lighter glitter in it than most purple pencils I've tried and I've tried many! Plus it goes on the skin & blends easily and seriously resists rubbing off when it dries and stays on unless you use makeup remover.

I think the overall look came out looking like an oil slick, which is still cool and you could even increase this effect with adding some black in the outer corners or a spot of yellow to the centre of the lid.

Have fun with the tutorial below or view it here on my YouTube channel and the Lip Art tutorial can be found here.

Makeup Tutorial: Fresh Violet Eyes

I created this simple violet eye look to go with the Space-age holographic Lip Art which you can see here. It's a great look for winter and a fresh trending look to cleanse yourself for the new year.

I used Vellum, a duo chrome white and violet shade which is one of my favourite MAC shadows, and Sugarpill's Diamond Eyes from their Cold Chemistry Palette with a bit of Inglot 101R in the crease.

I kept the cheeks a natural "just came out of the snow" flush with Benefit Hervana and throb blushes mixed together and a touch of MAC Mineralised blush in Gentle on the apples.

This look really shows off your eye lashes and is all about a nice coat of mascara and well combed through lashes. I have a lash growth experiment coming up that tells you how mine got so long and luscious.

And if you're into fun shimmery shadows and fabulous mattes, check out Sugarpill here!

Diamond Eyes Pin-up: Makeup & OOTD

We were going out to a fancy dinner for my Mama's birthday and got dressed up with a monochrome pin-up style with a polka dot dress and a flower in my hair.

I used my new Cold Chemistry palette from Sugarpill including Diamond Eyes and Soot & Stars plus I added some sparkle with Eye Kandy Marshmallow sprinkles, then accented the look with some Bornpretty Colorful Crystals around the tear duct.

For the hot pink glossy lips, I got out the OCC Lip tar in Nylon and layered Milani Star Flash Lip gloss pencil on the centre and finished it off with Benefit Back to the Fuchsia gloss.

If you want to check out the dark side of Sugarpill, check out their online store here!

Get all the embellishments and decorations I used here from the Born Pretty store and use the code MIHW10 for 10% off your whole order!
