Nobility Series - Marie, eat your heart out!

Queens of Ages

Please check out my look and click the little "luv" button of you like what you see here on makeup bee.

This is my entry into the Makeupbee competition entitled d'Antoinette inspired looks. It also gave me the idea to do a series on Nobility called "Queens of Ages". My entry is inspired by both the soft and harsh qualities of Marie Antoinette; the coquettish lady and the guillotine that ended her life.

The pink and purple colours represent the macaroons and French delicacies the Queen was privy to, the very pale foundation because the ladies in those days used white lead based powder, and the silver curved wing represents the guillotine.

Purple Amber Lights

I absolutely love M.A.C Amber Lights and think it's one of the best eye shadow colours for neutral looks. It is great for any eye colour, but especially brown and green eyes. Such a gorgeous frosted colour and I love to use it frequently.

So, I decided to make my eyes pop by using Amber lights and purple together and create an easygoing daytime look. It's wearable with a pop of colour and a nice amount of shine.

Enjoy!

Prometheus

I always like to dress up when I go the movies with some sort of theme related to the film we're seeing. Since Prometheus is in the Alien franchise and the Alien character is usually associated with blackish green, blue or gray, I used those kind of colours to create this look. I used a sample I got from Evil Shades eyeshadow in Glooming and found it to be excellent. I love the way the blue glitter shines against the matte black and it worked really well with Fyrianne Pixy Epoxy. Delicious! The Deviant Lipstick from Evil Shades also kicked ass in the colour and shine department, check out the lip swatch and review.

I love the art work of H. R. Giger, who conceived the concept art for the Alien from his nightmares, and he has done some awesome, spooky and unnerving works. Check out his site here.

Enjoy!

Here is a lip swatch for Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Obscurity and mini Review.

I loved the colour and sheen this lipstick had and found the intensity to be buildable. I only had a sample, so I solely used a lip brush to apply the product and think that application and intensity could be improved if applied directly from the stick with the full product. The lipstick is a wax based product, so warms to the lip's touch and I think that makes the difference with the full size compared to the sample. The taste was inoffensive, if not pleasant and it wore comfortably. It didn't dry my lips too much but did feel like I was wearing product, that is to say that it isn't a weightless unnoticeable lipstick, however isn't thick and cumbersome. It didn't survive me eating popcorn in the movie theatre, which no one should expect.

I liked it and would consider buying the full size for the colour alone.

Buy it at Evil Shades here.

The search for our begining could lead to our end.......

Winged Sweetheart

I had to have a good play with my Sweetheart palette and do a look that does it justice. I wanted to use the beautiful bright pink and blue and do a strong winged look with purple. For some reason this made me think of Indian war paint and I felt awesome and ready for action. But really it was just fancy eye makeup, although I did devour my dinner with fury and gusto, I guess.

I totally fell in love with this palette when I created this look. Mmmmm…

So anyway, here's my Sweetheart palette inspired look.

Enjoy!

Animal series - Tigress on the prowl

I wanted to do a series of animal inspired looks over the coming “whenever I get stimulated” time period and I started with a tiger look. I loved the idea of bold makeup using bronze/gold colours and trying to capture the deadly nature of the wild beast.

Here's my tiger look.

Enjoy!

Ocean Blue

It is the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Valencia for the European round in this season. The track is surrounded by beautiful beaches and ocean with is a deep greenish blue and is seen when the cars zoom over the bridge in the street circuit. So I was inspired by the ocean and wanted to use colours I don’t usually use much to create this look. I also wanted to try my hand at making matte eyeshadows a pearly finish and to use shadows I already have in different ways. I used Urban Decay Primer potion in Sin under the Sugarpill pressed matte shadows and it gave a delicious shine.

Enjoy!
